CODING ZONE
Course Information
Immerse yourself in the world of coding and robotics. The Coding Zone course aims to enhance your digital skills and introduce you to the fundamentals of computer programming.
You will boost your computational skills and learn how to formulate and solve problems by using algorithmic thinking and collaborative programming. You will build robots, create gadgets and learn coding. You will be introduced to Python programming – one of the most popular modern languages and a highly sought-after skill.
Combining English language and computer skills empowers students with critical skills for their future.
Activities
The social activities are an important part of any summer school experience and is a great way for students to socialise and practise their English with each other.
The course includes one full-day excursion to an outdoor destination in Northern Ireland and two half-day excursions to local landmarks to enable students to explore the city and its surroundings.
Students are always kept engaged throughout the course and will participate in fun social activities from quiz night to movie nights.

Safeguarding
AISR aims to ensure that all students of the Academy experience a welcoming, inclusive, enjoyable and safe environment, in which they feel respected and valued. Students are supervised 24 hours a day and a high staff to student ratio ensures that all students are looked after.
Coronavirus Safety
AISR is constantly monitoring the UK government's advice and our programmes will only run if government advice allows it. Please refer to our full Covid-19 measures using this link: CORONAVIRUS STATEMENT.
At the time of writing, summer school courses are delivered virtually.
Please note that students travel at their own risk. AISR will follow all guidelines outlined in our coronavirus statement. However, this is best practice and at best can only minimise the risk of contracting Covid-19. It does not eradicate the risk entirely.
If a face-to-face programme is cancelled by AISR due to COVID-19, your entire fee will be transferred to another programme or refunded to you at your discretion, except for arranged accommodation and other third party services. For further information, please refer to our Cancellation Policy.
What do I need to get started with the Virtual Lessons?
The online sessions have been carefully structured so students around the world can join us in most time zones. Students will have access to 2 hours of pre-course materials prior to starting the course. During the course, students will have 20 hour contact time per week, 15 hours of workshops and project work plus two hours of skills and careers workshops.
We recommend using a laptop with webcam and audio capabilities but students could also use their iPad or mobile phone.
You will also need a reliable internet connection to make sure students can connect to their teacher.
